Topic: Put GOD first
*Hands on activities 👇🏽
Let’s start this lesson off with a quick Experiment.!
📍All you need is a banana 🍌 or something that has a peel like oranges, Grapefruit,Lemons Etc.
📍Let’s make the focus of this experiment about money💵.
📍Pretended that $10 is the same as a whole banana or whatever fruit you use.
Ask:
What is the first thing you should do if you want to put God first?
If they answer “Save some for God” (all praises)
Continue on with this:
📌Say: let’s pretend you don’t do that because you get allowance on sunday and you don’t have church until Saturday to give alms.
📌Peel the fruit and set the peel aside.
Here is when you begin to cut down the banana…
(Allow your child to fill in the blanks)
⚫️On Monday you buy ___________(take a bite of the banana)
⚫️On Tuesday you give ___________ a few dollars(take another bite)
⚫️On Wednesday, you really, really wanted to buy a _____________(Take
another bite)
⚫️ On Thursday you get __________ ice cream(take another bite)
⚫️On Friday you buy a new sabbath__________(Eat the rest of the banana)
🔴Then comes Saturday the Sabbath and all you will have left is the banana peel
Banana peel = 1cent☹️
Ask:
How much do you have to give God? (Allow child time to respond)
Would God be happy with this peel?
(Allow child time to respond)
📍of course not.! (explain He would not be happy with the scraps , this is not putting him FIRST.!!
What are some things you could do to PUT GOD FIRST ? (Allow child time to respond)
⭐️When you start out by putting some away for god, then you would make different decisions spending your money, because some of it would already be destined to go to God.
In the end you can’t want want want from God and you don’t put him first not only with alms, but with your time, in your friendships , goals, and in EVERYTHING.!!
📚 Reading Time 📖
(Reading comprehension)
Genesis 4 : read to your child the story of Cain & Abel , be sure to change up voices when reading.
Ask these questions: (Possible answers)
Why do you think God was mad about Cain’s offering? (Because he kept the good parts for himself.
Why did God like Abel’s offering? (He gave god the best of what he had.)
Why do you think he gave that offering? (He was putting God first.)
Who put God first in the story? (Abel)
How could Cain have made better decisions? (He could have given god the best of what he had.)
How can we use this story in our lives? (We can put God first and give him the best of what we have.)
Put GOD first
Cut and paste Activity
